Jewels

Twice in one hour I’ve seen this lovely night,

Flustered at having all those jewels there-

Spilling her stars, that fall from Heaven to Earth,

As though she carried more than she could bear.

While I, a struggling dreamer, all day long,

That tries to polish one poor little rhyme-

Though breathed on hard, and rubbed with ecstasy,

Still call on Night to see my wasted time.
