Rich Companions

While I have these two rich companions left,

Wine for my Body, Music for my Mind-

Shall I complain that Life lost its youth,

And say that Fate is cruel and unkind?

Come, then, let Wine and Music help each other;

That when my Wine has closed both eye and ear,

I'll hear in dreams a music more divine,

Refined by something more than common air.

Fill up the glass and turn the small knob-

Bring in those sweet far- travelled melodies:

Wine for my  Body, Music for my Mind-

Can age find any richer friends than these?
